Yui Makino Interview – NYAF 2009

with 10 comments

Yui Makino

Yui Makino

Yui Makino…singer…seiyuu…and all-around down-to-earth woman. I really had a great time sitting down talking to her. Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean. By the end, you’ll be doing this :bloody:

I want to mention a big thanks to the folks at Sony Music Japan for allowing me to talk and video record our interview. And also for allowing me to use clips from her latest single “Tanpopo Suisha”.

Note: She held my iPod nano! YAY!!!!! (it’s what I used to cover the convention).

For people who are not aware, Yui (or Yuuchi as she would like to be called during her concerts) is the Japanese voice behind Princess Sakura of CLAMP’s TSUBASA RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE. And as it turns out, FUNimation is releasing Season One on Blu-Ray November 17. You can pre-order it now so you can hear either Yui or Monica Rial’s voice in high-definition. OMG! :P

Tsubasa Season 1 Blu-ray

And Season 2 box set will street on Dec 29.

Tsubasa - Season 2

And now, on to the video…

So far, my favorite question to Yui was about her “masochist” way of overcoming stage fright. And her answer was pretty funny. And I just loved her tiny voice. At the start of the interview, I made a mistake by not pressing the “record” button on my iPod. It was sooo embarrasing. So Yui, Sony reps and I laughed it off and I profusely apologized and she was cool about it. Awwwwe! :sorry:

And you can catch episodes of Tsubasa Chronicle on FUNimation Channel’s VOD and linear service.

Enclosed are comps for web banners advertising Bamboo Blade – Part 1 DVD releasing 11/24/2009.  They will be targeted to anime related websites such as AnimeNewsNetwork.com, TheOtaku.com, and Cosplay.com.  They will run 11/17 – 12/8.

VOD Fridays – FUNimation Channel (10/9)

with 19 comments

Are you guys ready for Halloween? I’m not. I was thinking of giving trick-or-treaters small bags of pretzels and maybe some candy. I usually mix things up though. I sometimes give out those microwavable Pop Secret Kettle Corn popcorn and suddenly my house becomes the popular house on the block. Would be funny if I ended up putting anime DVDs in bags. Oh, but will there be a disk inside? Trick!

Enough of that for now. Let’s see what’s new on Comcast VOD.

Movies and Events —–> FUNimation Anime (PPV VOD)

The Cutting Edge ——> FUNimation Anime (Free VOD)

And linear channel viewers, continue to check out your favorite series and jumping to the program guide for scheduled times. If you noticed, this month seems to be a crazy HunterXHunter love fest on linear and VOD. Catch the series when you can.

Later folks!

VOD Fridays – FUNimation Channel (9/25)

with 2 comments

I just bought the new iPod Nano with video recorder since I plan to use it for these upcoming interviews with Yui Makino & AKB48 @ NYAF. I’m still trying to get used to the size of it and placement of the video lens (my finger seems to make a special guest appearance). The 5th gen Nano is quite tiny and strangely yummy to look at. Let’s see if my awesome videography skills will impress the streaming viewers.

If you are attending New York Anime Festival this weekend at the Javits, stop by the FUNimation booth (#303) and say “hi” to the booth folks. And look for me – Amanda from FUNimation Channel – and perhaps you’ll end up in my video odyssey. If you are cosplaying and want to show off your handiwork – then most definitely look for me. :)

And now, here are updates for Comcast VOD:

Movies & Events —–> FUNimation Anime (PPV VOD)

The Cutting Edge —->FUNimation Anime (Free VOD)

Other highlights on VOD are: the live-action films currently airing under the Movies-Specials button, Romeo X Juliet, D. Gray-Man, Tower of Druaga, Blassreiter, Nabari no Ou, Heroic Age, the last remaining eps of Kaze no Stigma as well as Claymore and Buso Renkin.

Under the free VOD offering, another highlight is Gundam SEED Destiny. And linear channel viewers, highlights include Nana, Honey and Clover, HunterXHunter, and Peach Girl. Jump to the guide for additional lineup info.

Have a good weekend and see you at NYAF!

Got Questions for Yui Makino & AKB48? Now's Your Chance…

with 9 comments

This image has been approved by NYAF

FUNimation Channel was granted some face-time with singer/Seiyuu Yui Makino and that super idol group AKB48 at the upcoming New York Anime Festival at the Javits.

I’ll be asking a few questions, but I would love to ask them questions coming from you guys.

Here are the rules:

  • Come up with 3 of your BEST Questions
  • Feel free to list your real name or pseudonym (like your Gravatar username) so I can properly credit you. No need to list your age, gender or blood type. :D
  • List your questions in the Comment section of this blog

I’ll review all the questions up until 9PM Fri, Sept. 18th local time. The time I have with them is very short and could change between now and then. But I’m choosing only the best questions so put yur thinkin’ caps on ’cause this is your chance to get your favorite folks to answer one of your burning questions. xD

Today is Friday and we have some new anime eps up and running on Comcast VOD to start your weekend.

I know for some of you, today is not your typical Friday. We just want to take this moment and remember those who have passed on while our thoughts go out to those who lost someone that day. Take it easy out there.

*UPDATE FOR KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE AREA COMCAST VIEWERS*

Your service area headend have backfilled missed content and you should be receiving updates soon if it hasn’t happened already. They had to backfill content onto a physical hard drive so the process took longer than expected. But hopefully you guys can catch up on those missed episodes. If not, we will eventually re-air those shows.

I want to make a note that Tsubasa Chronicle returns to VOD starting with episode 1. It was one of those shows that got interrupted during the switch in May. This time, we should be able to completely air both seasons.

On the linear channel, remember that Honey and Clover and Nana start airing next Saturday, 9/19. Check the guide for scheduled times. Other highlights this month are Basilisk, Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wars and School Rumble.
