VOD Fridays – FUNimation Channel (4/9)

with 8 comments

Last week was fun. The folks in Seattle, WA were very nice in welcoming me to their convention. Congratulations again to our $250 Anime Prize Pack winner from the show.  Stay tuned to this blog because in the near future, we will unveil a whole slew of new things for the channel. We will also have a dedicated site for the campaign we launched last week at Sakura-Con. Good times ahead!

A couple things this week on Comcast VOD. We had some delays in receiving some titles over the holidays so some shows are going to extend episodes for an additional week. I blame lots of chocolate for the delay. I’ll note the shows below.

This week on Comcast VOD:

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime —> Funimation Platinum

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime —> Funimation Free

And highlights this month on linear include El Cazador De La Bruja, Monster, Nabari No Ou, Nana and Honey and Clover. For the schedule jump here.

Here are some pics from Sakura-Con. I might be attending C2E2 in Chi-town next week. Still waiting for final confirmation on that. If you are attending, give a shout-out! And keep checking this blog for latest updates on the I Want My FUNimation Channel HD campaign. It will be an all out effort.

Sakura-Con 2010Sakura-Con 2010

Don’t let these cosplayers efforts go in vain. Let your cable or satellite operator know that you pay a lot for your service and that adding The FUNimation Channel to your linear lineup will make all your bitterness go away (or at least some of it go away). :D

Happy Friday to everyone! I hope the weather is fine where you are. Rain, snow, colliding storm systems – that’s just too much for us to take right now. Thankfully, FUNimation Channel has some new anime to air this month. :)

And that menu change I mentioned last month is starting to show up on your VOD menus (if you are a Comcast customer). This is the new menu:

On Demand —>The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Free —> Action-Fantasy

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Free —> Drama-Comedy

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Free —> Glass Fleet

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —>  Funimation Anime—> Funimation Free —> Anime Selects

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —>  Funimation Anime—> Funimation Free —> New This Week

And for the PPV VOD menu:

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> Specials

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> D. Gray-man

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> Blassreiter

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> Spice and Wolf

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> HunterXHunter

On Demand —> The Cutting Edge —> Funimation Anime—> Funimation Platinum —> Nabari No Ou

And now for today’s lineup on Comcast VOD:

I know some of you have left comments asking for changes to the linear schedule – looking for titles to return or just having a new slew of titles airing. I’ll let you know when I learn more about those changes. In the meantime, jump here for the latest grid info.

Next week we will have the premiere debut of Evangelion 1.11 You Are [Not] Alone on Comcast VOD. Tell your friends, your family, your pets, your lovers that this movie is a big deal to air in the US and that it shouldn’t be missed.

And now for something not anime-related:

Who do you think will win Super Bowl XLIV this weekend? New Orleans Saints or Indianapolis Colts? And are you excited about The Who performing at the half? Leave your answer in the comments below. Game on!  Congrats to the New Orleans Saints!

It is cold out there! If you are living in a very warm climate, give a shout-out and send us some of your warmth. :)

And now for the list of shows on Comcast VOD:

Cutting Edge —> FUNimation Anime

And for the latest on when your favorite anime titles airs on the linear channel, jump here for the grid. I’ve seen some comments from viewers asking what channel number the linear channel is on Verizon FiOS. Channel 262. You can play that as a lottery number if you like. But that is the channel number.

I think I’m allowed to give you some clues as to what new shows will go up on VOD in the future. Next month, we’ll air a movie and its a giant robot movie. That’s clue one. Clue two… the heroes are kids. That’s all for now! I’m sure you can figure out what movie we’ll unveil in February from those two clues. ;)

VOD Fridays – FUNimation Channel (11/13)

So its Friday the 13th and your word of the day is – TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA. I hope you don’t have that condition because that would make your day suck. You know, I just realized there are three words within that word – “risk”, “aid” and of course “phobia”. Its a Greek root word. If you include the Greek pre-fix “tris” I guess you can say the word is made up of four words all smushed into one word to mean this one day. Gotta love the Greeks! Can you tell I’m an etymology freak? Ah, to be an English major.

And now about Spice and Wolf. It’s been pushed to air tomorrow – Saturday. A funny thing happened to one of those eps that operations was hoping to get a replacement in time but it never made it through. Let’s think lovely thoughts and hope this replacement ep is gonna make it through to operations today. Give off good vibes, please. I know its tough, but if we think positive thoughts maybe just maybe all those eps will finally air.  :D

Yesterday I posted about changes to the Comcast VOD menu. Those changes happen next week but some cities have started to switch over and in some cases missing updates and episodes.  Right now, I’m speaking with operations to get an ideal if some of those cities are doing anything about those missing shows. If you noticed a lot of titles missing under The Cutting Edge/FUNimation Anime section, follow the instructions in this post and I’ll try to get some answers from Comcast.

Here’s a list of what’s slated to air today on Comcast VOD:

blassreiter

We’ve got some new episodes up today for Comcast VOD. I hope the weather is fine wherever you are because it totally blows where I am…literally. There’s a Nor’Easter weather system around the Northeast and its blowing leaves and kitties all over the place. Its a sad reminder that I have to go out and start raking leaves after this weather passes :|

Ok, here’s what’s up on Comcast VOD

Movies and Events —–> FUNimation Anime (PPV)

The Cutting Edge —–> FUNimation Anime (free VOD)

And viewers who have access to the linear channel on Verizon FiOS and other cable providers, check out the program guide to see when your fave shows are scheduled to air.

BONUS! Ok. Fairly recently, Comcast has started to upload old segments of AX convention coverage produced by Select On Demand for Anime Selects. The videos date as far back as 2005(!). Below is a flashback of FUNimation’s own Adam Sheehan talking about hottest releases at that time. Gomenasai Adam *^_^

Let me know what you guys think. Oh yeah…and the AKB48 interview is almost ready to go. It’ll be up soon.

We’re half-way through September and before you know it, its Halloween :P Oh, but wait…there is Columbus Day. Who could forget Columbus Day? Coincidentally, there is an anime based on Christopher Columbus‘s explorations. It was produced by Nippon Animation and released in 1992. Its a 26 episode historical drama packed with action and finger pointing…

From Nippon Animation Catalogue

Perhaps one of these days someone will have the courage to license it. Maybe History Channel if they ever want to do an animated block.

What's New on FUNimation Channel August

with 15 comments

Hiya! Hard to believe its August already and the fall season is just up ahead. Its a good thing the FUNimation Channel has you covered on VOD & on the linear network during those hot, August nights ( to Mr. Neil Diamond).

First up, let’s talk about titles on VOD. We’re  going to debut Nabari No Ou later this month 8O . How late? Hmmm…someNabari - The Complete Series - Part One time around August 21stish. FUNimation just revealed the cast and here we are providing the show waaaay before it hits the streets. Crazy! Since the show will debut under the PPV VOD service, remember that the first episode is a free preview episode while the rest of the eps go for .99 cents per ep.

A couple of OVA will air under the Movies-Specials folder: Burst Angel OVA , CLAMP double feature Tsubasa Chronicle movie: The Princess in the Birdcage Kingdom and xxxHolic movie: A Midsummer Night’s Dream Jing King of Bandits: Seventh Heaven. For Jing, the OVA will run at 1 hr 30min, meaning that the 3 eps will run continuous as a full-lengtdarkerthanblackh feature. Air the Movie is also airing this month.

Darker Than Black will debut this month on 8/14 under the FREE offering. And Cosplay Cuties  has a few more new eps added today that will run through to Sept 4th.  The girls do all sorts of fun things around Tokyo like checking out the batting cages and riding the coaster at the amusement park. They also stayed at one of those Capsule hotels and give us the inside look at being in those tiny things.

On the linear channel, titles to highlight for the month are: Hunter X Hunter, Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle Season One, Basilisk and Ninja Nonsense.

In the previous post, I mentioned something about titles that used to air under Anime Selects before the May switchover. Starting in September, we will debut the folder Anime Selects on Free VOD under Cutting Edge —–> FUNimation Anime channel. The titles that are slated to go up are Gundam SEED Destiny and Vampire Princess Miyu. :-)
